The business underneath the business
How it really operates, where the pressure points are and what outsiders tend to misunderstand.
About RAK & ROLL
RAK & ROLL is an independent conversation series about the people building businesses in Ras Al Khaimah — what they learned, what changed, what worked and what they would do differently.
01 / The idea
Not a business directory. Not a pitch deck. A conversation.
Why it exists
Someone may have spent years solving a problem that another business owner is encountering for the first time.
RAK & ROLL makes room for those details: customers, pricing, growth, marketing, mistakes, unexpected turns and the decisions that made more sense in hindsight.
The industries may be completely different. The useful lesson often is not.
02 / The conversation
How it really operates, where the pressure points are and what outsiders tend to misunderstand.
Marketing, referrals, partnerships, positioning and the things that looked good on paper but produced very little.
The local context, the UAE experience and what someone arriving with assumptions may discover only after doing the work.
Because a useful conversation should still contain surprise, personality and something you could never get from a company brochure.
03 / One of those questions
Not every useful answer starts with a business question.
04 / The place
Ras Al Khaimah
The series is rooted in Ras Al Khaimah and the people doing business here.
That gives every episode a clear place and context without turning the conversation into a narrow industry programme.
Hospitality can teach retail something. Logistics can teach ecommerce something. A founder can recognise their own problem in the story of a completely different business.
05 / Your host
Host of RAK & ROLL · Ras Al Khaimah
Meet Kaan
A business and digital strategist whose background crosses industries, countries and more than 25 years of international work.
Kaan is based in Ras Al Khaimah and has worked across North America, Europe, Asia and the GCC in digital strategy, business operations, logistics, branding and executive education.
That breadth is useful behind a microphone. RAK & ROLL is not about demonstrating how much the host knows about the guest’s industry. It is about being curious enough to find the part of their experience that another person can use.
The conversation can move from business models and marketing to a bad decision, an unexpected habit, a local observation or whatever else gets past the rehearsed version of the story.
06 / Independent
RAK & ROLL is an independent media project. The conversation is not structured around a service pitch.
The editorial focus stays on the guest, the business they are building and what someone else may learn from their experience.
